Alcon-Couvreur N.V., or Alcon Belgium, was established in 1977 as one of Alcon's major manufacturing locations. The facilities include pharmaceutical and surgical viscoelastics manufacturing plants, a distribution center and offices totaling 424,740 square feet. Alcon Belgium's employees, nearly 1000 in total, dedicate themselves to manufacturing and delivering a full range of ophthalmic surgical equipment and supplies, pharmaceuticals and consumer vision care products for the eye.
Additional services provided to the Belgium market include Alcon Belgium's proficient technicians and a fully equipped six station wet lab with a team of experienced product specialists. In addition, the Puurs manufacturing plant manufactures and distributes a wide variety of products to more than 120 countries while Alcon Belgium's customer service team successfully manages relationships with Belgian customers.
Alcon Belgium takes seriously Alcon's focus on social responsibility, building relationships with partners to support medical mission programs primarily in African countries.
Moving forward, Alcon Belgium plans to expand its manufacturing plant and continue growth of its distribution activities. New products and technologies will continue to be introduced, as well, at the direction of R&D. Most importantly, Alcon Belgium will continue its strong focus on quality and service.
