Alcon Cusí, S.A., or Alcon Spain, began in 1970 with several acquisitions, becoming Alcon Cusí, S.A. in 1995 when Alcon purchased Laboratorios Cusí, S.A.
Alcon Spain contains one of Alcon's major research and development laboratories. Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, Alcon Spain's offices and R&D lab occupy 437,000 sq feet. Here, nearly 600 Alcon employees dedicate themselves to the research, development and manufacturing of ophthalmic surgical equipment and supplies, pharmaceuticals and consumer vision care products.
Alcon Spain remains invested in training and education and provides wet labs for professional training through more than 50 courses annually.
Alcon Spain is dedicated to providing the best in customer service and technical support. Flexibility and efficiency have earned the company a reputation for quality and service.
Believing strongly in Alcon's corporate responsibility, Alcon Spain regularly participates in medical mission programs by providing pharmeceuticals and surgical products to Spanish ophthalmologists on route to developing African countries. Most of these ophthalmologists are associated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and are grateful for the support that they receive from Alcon for their humanitarian endeavors.
Over the next five years Alcon Spain plans to continue its innovative approach to seeking new business opportunities, while remaining committed to forging strong relationships with the country's eye care community. A key tool in this effort is The Alcon Institute, founded in 2004 as a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary educational outreach program.
