Surgical
Alcon is the worldwide leader in ophthalmic surgical products, ranging from cataract and refractive surgery and intraocular lenses to surgeries requiring vitreoretinal systems, sutures, needles and knives. More eye care professionals rely on our ocular surgical products than any other company in the world. Highlighted below are some of our key products.
Cataract Surgery
Cataracts, the leading cause of treatable blindness, create vision cloudiness and develop for a variety of reasons, but most commonly result as part of the aging process. However, they can also be caused by long-term ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, trauma to the eye and as secondary effects of diseases such as diabetes. Cataracts typically require surgical removal and replacement of the eye's lens. We offer products in all areas of cataract surgery, including equipment for lens removal and insertion; intraocular lenses (IOLs) to replace the eye's natural lens; solutions and viscoelastics to protect the eye; and sterile surgical kits to streamline surgery.
INFINITI® Vision System
The INFINITI® Vision System allows physicians to provide patients with customized cataract surgery. This approach combines unparalleled fluidics with two unique energy delivery systems, providing surgeons increased efficiency and the ability to customize cataract lens removal to each patient. The system's OZil® Torsional Handpiece delivers side-to-side, oscillating ultrasonic movement, enhancing surgeon control during surgery. Increased surgical control delivers greater potential for obtaining better surgical outcomes and safety than with traditional cataract removal technologies. This approach also supports the direction of more and more cataract surgeons towards micro-incisional cataract removal. To learn more about this product, visit www.infinitivision.com.
AcrySof® IOLs
With 25 million implants worldwide, AcrySof® lenses are the most frequently implanted in the world, as physicians appreciate the long-term clinical results and unmatched stability of the lens. Recent advances to this line of lenses also address other visual disturbances while correcting for cataracts:
For patients with cataracts and presbyopia there is the AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens, which corrects for both conditions at the same time, eliminating the need for spectacles after surgery in most patients. Clinical trials showed that over 80 percent of patients receiving this lens never required glasses for any task following surgery1. To learn more about this product, visit www.acrysofrestor.com.
For patients with cataracts and spherical aberration there is the AcrySof® IQ lens, which corrects both conditions simultaneously.
For patients with cataracts and astigmatism there is the AcrySof® Toric lens, which corrects for both conditions simultaneously.

DisCoVisc® Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device (OVD)
DisCoVisc® Ophthalmic viscosurgical device is the first cohesive and dispersive viscoelastic to combine higher viscosity cohesives and lower viscosity dispersives in a single syringe to provide superior retention, space maintenance and visual clarity during all key phases of cataract surgery. Additionally, it is easily removed at the end of surgery. To learn more about this product, visit www.cataractsurgery.com.

DuoVisc® Viscoelastic system
DuoVisc® Viscoelastic system provides the dispersive benefits of VISCOAT® viscosurgical device and the cohesive benefits of ProVisc® viscosurgical device in one disposable package. The use of VISCOAT® viscoelastic solution in the initial phases of surgery takes advantage of the solution's tissue protection properties. The use of ProVisc® viscoelastic material during the later phases of the surgery takes advantage of the properties that make it better suited for the expansion of the capsular bag and implantation of the intraocular lens following the cataract extraction. The separate syringes enable surgeon personalization of application to achieve optimum surgical control. To learn more about this product, visit www.cataractsurgery.com.

ProVisc® Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device (OVD)
The ProVisc® viscosurgical device is a cohesive viscoelastic characterized by high molecular weight, high pseudoplasticity, and high surface tension. It provides excellent space maintenance, facilitates intraocular lens implantation, and is easily removed. It is available in three sizes or as part of the DuoVisc® Viscosurgical System.

Custom-Pak® Surgical Packs
Alcon's Custom-Pak® Surgical Packs contain a customized single-use surgical procedure tray and consumable products used by eye surgeons for specific ophthalmic procedures. Each individual Custom-Pak® tray is manufactured to the surgeon's unique specifications and contains virtually every item needed for a single surgery. Additionally, the materials are packed in the exact sequence requested by the surgeon to support the surgical procedure.
Vitreoretinal
Vitreoretinal surgeries treat conditions of the retina such as retinal detachment, intraocular tumors, severe eye trauma and ocular complications of diabetes or sickle cell disease.
Accurus® Surgical System
The Accurus® surgical system, with 3D technology, provides surgeons a higher level of control to make posterior, anterior and combined surgeries more efficient. With options for micro-incision vitrectomy surgery in 20-gauge, 23-gauge and 25-gauge, the Accurus® surgical system allows the surgeon to choose the best option for each patient. The Accurus® Xenon Illuminator offers the surgeon enhanced illumination during vitreoretinal surgery. For more information about this product, visit www.accurus.com.
Eyelite® 532nm Photocoagulator
The Eyelite® 532nm Photocoagulator provides an exceptional combination of performance, solid-state reliability, versatility, and portability all in one system. The system is also supported by a wide range of high quality laser probes, an advanced technology laser indirect ophthalmoscope (LIO AT), and is compatible with a wide variety of slit lamps. For more information about this product, visit www.eyelitelaser.com.
Grieshaber® Instrumentation
The Grieshaber® line of intraocular instrumentation offers the quality, reliability and precision surgeons expect in both reusable and single-use models. With various handle styles to choose from as well as a variety of tips for each procedure, Grieshaber® surgical instruments gives surgeons options to select the instrumentation that meets their needs for vitreoretinal surgery.
Refractive Surgery
Refractive surgery is performed to correct vision impairments such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism to reduce dependency on eye glasses and contact lenses. Laser surgery is the most common form of refractive surgery today.
CustomCornea® LASIK & the LADARVision®4000 System
LADARVision® System is a laser vision correction system that provides treatment specific to an eye's individual optical characteristics. The system creates a wavefront map of each eye that is computer-matched with the eye's exact position, creating more precise treatments. Additionally, the CustomCornea® Wavefront system LASIK approach uses the LADARVision® System to detect and address higher order aberrations otherwise undetected by traditional LASIK surgery. This customized LASIK procedure results in improved vision and a reduction or elimination of the need for corrective eye wear. To learn more about this product, visit www.ladarvision.com.
