Robert Karsunky
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alcon
Robert Karsunky is senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer of Alcon Laboratories, Inc., a subsidiary of Alcon, Inc., the world’s largest eye care company. He leads and directs Alcon’s global finance organization, managing all financial functions for the company, as well as business development, procurement, information technologies and investor relations.
Mr. Karsunky joined Alcon in November 2010 and brings broad global experience in finance having had leadership roles with three of the world’s leading health care companies. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer of the Consumer Health Division of Novartis. In this role, he was responsible for the division’s finance, information technologies, procurement and merger and acquisition activities.
Prior to joining Novartis in 2006, Mr. Karsunky served as vice president of finance for the international division of Medtronic, Inc. During his four year tenure with Medtronic, his responsibilities included leading Medtronic’s finance, tax, treasury, information technology, business development, supply chain and customer services activities outside the United States. Mr. Karsunky began his career with Eli Lilly in 1991 where he had a variety of increasingly responsible financial positions in Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, and United States.
Mr. Karsunky is a German citizen, born and raised in Madrid, Spain. He studied business administration at the University of Cologne and New York University, and obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Aachen in Germany.
