Alcon Pharma GmbH, or Alcon Germany, was established in 1973 with an office and warehouse, which when combined, total 1,126 sq. m. (13,200 sq. ft.). Here, 240 Alcon Germany associates dedicate themselves to selling and marketing a full range of ophthalmic surgical supplies and equipment, pharmaceuticals and vision care products.
Alcon Germany also provides customer services that include technical service, customer training and education. Quality management seminars, wet labs, office management and practice development seminars, training and analysis on EBM 2000, as well as communications training for practice personnel are all part of the service provided by Alcon Germany.
WaveLight GmbH
WaveLight is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcon located in Erlangen, Germany, that focuses on the development and manufacturing of high-tech refractive laser and diagnostic equipment. Alcon’s WaveLight head office as well as the research and development (R&D) facilities occupy 7,725 sq. m. (25,344 sq. ft.). Approximately 200 associates develop and manufacture an innovative, end-to-end product portfolio in the field of refractive laser surgery, including diagnostics, treatment customization, and refractive laser devices.
WAVELIGHT® laser systems are the fastest in the world today and combine precision technology with excellent laser energy stability, high-quality components and reliability. The company’s unique PERFECT PULSE TECHNOLOGY® is designed to control each laser pulse from its generation to the point when it contacts the cornea.
Being the first company to introduce wavefront science into laser vision correction in 1999, WaveLight also pioneered WAVEFRONT OPTIMIZED® laser treatments that use wavefront principles adapted to each patient's cornea. From wavefront- to asphericity-guided laser vision correction, WaveLight has brought the most cutting edge technologies to the refractive market in the past years.
WAVELIGHT® refractive laser systems from Alcon are manufactured in the custom built production facility in Pressath, Germany. The new, modular production floor is one of the first state-of-the-art facilities of its kind in Europe. Here, WAVELIGHT® systems are manufactured under the highest possible technological standards.
