Alcon Singapore has been in operation since 1992. The company currently employs approximately 40 people, who work to serve the nation’s eye care community, as well as to provide centralized human resources support, marketing and health economics capabilities for the Asian region.
On May 26, 2009, Alcon broke ground on its first Asian pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Singapore. This 330,000-square-foot building, located on the southwest tip of the island nation, will employ more than 150 employees once production begins, and is expected to be completed in 2012. The new plant will primarily manufacture sight-saving pharmaceutical products for Asian markets, and will allow Alcon to more effectively meet the eye care needs of patients and healthcare professionals across Asia with treatments for eye infections, eye inflammation, dry eyes and glaucoma.
