Sometimes referred to as the urban forest, our Fort Worth location is home not only to our main corporate office, but also to the William C. Conner Research Center where the majority of our research and development efforts occur, and where we have two major manufacturing plants. With more than 2,500 employees, Fort Worth is by far Alcon's largest location. Here, the company conducts on-site training and seminars, around-the-clock research and development, and state-of-the-art manufacturing. The facility houses the main offices of our executive management team and our corporate divisions, which provide the necessary leadership to make Alcon the trusted leader in eye care.
William C. Conner Research Center
At the heart of Alcon's scientific and technological commitment is the William C. Conner Research Center – 60,387 square meters (650,000 square feet) of the world's most sophisticated ophthalmic research laboratories. At the Conner Center, nearly 1,000 researchers, scientists and technicians are gaining insight into the causes and possible treatments for a host of conditions and diseases including retinal degenerative diseases, glaucoma and ocular infection. The Fort Worth campus is also the site of our research and development programs involving intraocular lenses, viscoelastics and intraocular irrigating solutions. Also under development are innovative contact lens care solutions, new ocular drug delivery systems and new pharmaceuticals, as well as products aimed at providing a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals and natural ingredients to maintain eye health.
Fort Worth Manufacturing
Fort Worth is home to one of the most technologically advanced aseptic manufacturing plants in the U.S. Efficiency is key with automated technology used to increase the speed of manufacture and to cut down on the possibility of error. Ophthalmic solutions and suspensions as well as consumer vision care products are manufactured in over 55,742 square meters (600,000 square feet) of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.
