Alcon defines Environmental Sustainability as a “business approach to create long-term shareholder value by meeting the environmental needs of the present without compromising the environmental needs of future generations."

To achieve environmental sustainability, Alcon continues to focus on three main processes.

Regulatory Stewardship – Alcon has implemented a network of processes and tools to assure that our manufacturing sites, affiliates and associates are aware of the environmental regulatory obligations specific to the global activities and services of Alcon.

Product Stewardship – A synergistic approach where Alcon focuses on the environmental impacts of our products through the product life cycle which includes impacts in the design phase of our products and on our post-consumer product wastes.

Operations and Design – Alcon continues to assess our environmental impacts due to our activities worldwide. The primary emphasis includes the assessment of natural resource consumption and the potential for developing environmentally sustainable operations.
