Stringent Quality Standards

Alcon Manufacturing employee monitors qualityAs the leading researcher and manufacturer of eye health and eye care products, Alcon is committed to preserving, enhancing and restoring the vision of patients who use our products. With this commitment comes the responsibility of comprehensive testing of all our products to ensure their safety. Most of our products help combat diseases of the eye that can lead to blindness.

Along with monitoring production and evaluating processes for quality assurance, Alcon also adheres to ISO 9000 standards. These standards address implementing and maintaining a quality management system which helps assure consistent quality in products and services provided to customers. In addition, Alcon often is involved with many of the committees that establish such quality standards, underlining our commitment to quality.

In demonstration of the level of quality that Alcon continually works toward for all products in all facilities, the Huntington, West Virginia IOL manufacturing plant conducts 77 different quality inspections on the lenses they produce, 15 of which are 100 percent inspections – meaning every lens to leave the facility must pass these 15 inspections. Whether it's verifying to within hundredths of a millimeter or thousandths of a gram, Alcon will ship no lens unless it passes these rigorous inspections.
