Product Quality
For Alcon, product quality is more than complying to specifications – it's the culmination of many people's efforts throughout the development and production of a product through the provision of service for that product. From Research & Development to Manufacturing, everyone plays a pivotal role. When each individual performs their job to the highest level, the final outcome will be a quality product. This results in associates taking pride in the standard to which they hold their own work – providing patients and physicians with a product or service that sets the standard within the industry and redefines its own standard with each new product introduction and enhancement.
Beyond our own internal quality standards, Alcon is dedicated to complying with standards set by specific regulatory bodies around the world, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union (EU). Alcon currently adheres to the ISO 9001:2000 standard for general quality, the ISO 15378:2006 for pharmaceuticals and the ISO 13485:2003 for surgical devices. These standards, in conjunction with our use of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Systems (QS) Regulation, ensure that all products are consistently meeting the customers and regulatory bodies expectations.
