Surgical
As market leaders in ophthalmic surgical products, we provide the most comprehensive surgical portfolio in the world. We're proud of our recent surgical advances in cataract surgery with the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL for the treatment cataracts and presbyopia simultaneously and the AcrySof® Toric IOL for the treatment of cataracts and astigmatism simultaneously.

Pharmaceutical
We maintain our position as the market leader in pharmaceuticals for the eye and continue to forge the path to advanced treatment of glaucoma, eye infections, eye inflammation and eye allergies as well as ear infections. Alcon recently released TRAVATAN Z® solution for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. TRAVATAN Z® is a new formulation that replaces benzalkonium chloride (BAK) from Alcon's existing TRAVATAN® solution with a preservative system that is gentle to the ocular surface. Alcon is also excited about the release of the TRAVATAN® Dosing Aid (known as TRAVALERT® Dosing Aid in some countries) developed to make taking TRAVATAN® solution easier by reminding patients to administer drops and monitor compliance for the doctor.

Consumer Vision Care
As the second largest provider of consumer eye care solutions (excluding eye glasses and contact lenses), we are well known around the globe for our consumer vision care family of products, which include contact lens care solutions, ocular vitamins and artificial tears to treat dry eye. We've seen significant treatment advances with Systane® Lubricant Eye Drops, which treats the signs and symptoms of dry eye.

The Future in Alcon Products
To balance resource use with the strongest likelihood of success, Alcon continuously evaluates its pipeline products in order to determine which are the most promising projects to advance through the many phases of clinical testing. We look forward to the final clinical trial outcome of our pharmaceutical treatment for age-related macular degeneration currently in development – Retaane® (anecortave acetate) Ophthalmic Suspension. This and other advances in age-related eye conditions are constantly evaluated and tested to help enhance and restore vision and prevent blindness worldwide.
There are currently two drugs in the advanced stages of clinical trials indicated to treat dry eye, and one combination anti-infective and anti-inflammatory. In terms of surgical, we look forward to our next generation vitreoretinal system expected for approval in 2007.
