Awards
Alcon's R&D scientists have been the recipients of hundreds of awards from outside organizations through the years. In addition to these recognitions, Alcon founded the Technical Excellence Awards in 1984 to promote achievement in R&D excellence and has proudly extended the award to more than 100 recipients.
The Technical Excellence Award (TEA)

The Technical Excellence Award honors a select few R&D scientists for their exemplary contributions in the previous year's work. Alcon initiated this award for several purposes:
- To reward individual scientific leadership
- To set examples and establish R&D values for scientific excellence
- To reward academic research achievements
- To retain valuable scientists
Every year, Alcon's R&D organization solicits nominations for TEA. The TEA Committee rigorously reviews and then selects the award recipients. The committee's decision is based on significant technical elements involving creativity, innovation, impact, contribution, productivity and quality. The recipients are awarded a monetary benefit, are honored at a major R&D ceremony and have their names inscribed on plaques located in the lobby of our primary research facility – the Conner Research Center.
