With the help of eye consultants at some specialist centres, the company is doing a research study to look at the ability of Anecortave Acetate to prevent the growth of blood vessels under the retina. Who can volunteer to participate in this study?

Although a study doctor will eventually determine patient eligibility for this study, patients may be eligible to participate if they are age 50 or over and have a diagnosis of wet AMD that includes abnormal blood vessels under the retina with certain characteristics.

The blood vessels must have a majority (more than half of the lesion) of what is called “classic” characteristics. This can only be seen by using a special photographic technique (angiography) described in the following sections.
