It is possible that this study medicine may prevent the growth of blood vessels below the retina. Patients will also have the knowledge that the results from this study may contribute to better treatment methods for patients with AMD.

Even if patients receive a placebo injection, the results from all patients may make possible the development of a treatment for this disease which could benefit their other eye. However, the researchers and Alcon Research, Ltd. cannot and do not guarantee that all patients will receive any benefits from this study.
