Camberley United Kingdom, June 6, 2017 – Alcon®, the global leader in eye care and a division of Novartis®, announces its educational programme at the 40th British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Clinical Conference and Exhibition, in Liverpool, June 9th – 11th.

Renowned for being one of the largest international meetings dedicated exclusively to contact lens, ocular surface and anterior eye, the BCLA is held every two years and attended by over 1,000 key opinion leaders, contact lens educators and manufacturers. Scientific highlights include Alcon’s presentations on multifocal lenses, opportunities to expand in e-commerce with Alcon’s InContact service, and continued product innovation to meet the increasing needs of contact lens wearers.

At the Alcon booth (#18) Alcon will showcase its portfolio of monthly and daily disposable contact lenses and lens care solutions. With an extensive brand portfolio and three contact lens materials to choose from (DAILIES TOTAL1®, DAILIES® AquaComfort PLUS®, and AIR OPTIX®), Alcon’s products meet the needs of contact lens wearers in all segments. Earlier this year DAILIES TOTAL1 Multifocal received two awards for “Product of the Year” from the Associations of Optometrists (AOP) and “Contact Lens Product of the Year” from The Optician.

“Since launch, DAILIES TOTAL1 water gradient contact lens has been the solution for many contact lens wearers suffering from eye dryness and looking for enhanced comfort. With the launch of the multifocal design of DAILIES TOTAL1 we are able to present the first and only water gradient contact lenses for presbyopes, providing a solution for a category of wearers who typically require more comfort and a seamless experience between distance, intermediate and near vision as they develop presbyopia”, said Ian Bell, Region President, Alcon Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA). “This is a major market potential for the industry as presbyopia affects nearly 2 billion people worldwide1. More than ever, Alcon will focus its BCLA programme on the multifocal segment where there is a strong need for awareness”.

The company will also highlight the increasing opportunities that e-commerce offers to ECPs to drive new fits with InContact. An innovative digital service powered by Alcon, InContact connects Alcon professional website for customers to local contact lens portals where consumers can order contact lens. Available in 14 markets across Europe, InContact has the potential to address the needs of ECPs looking to expand their digital footprint while bringing enhanced customer care and services for contact lens wearers.

As part of the congress, Alcon will host key scientific presentations, posters and seminars/workshops. Alcon’s scientific highlights include:
