FORT WORTH, August 5, 2022 – Alcon, the global leader in eye care dedicated to helping people see brilliantly, today announced that Sue-Jean Lin, Senior Vice President and Chief Information and Transformation Officer, was awarded the 2022 U.S. National CIO of the Year ORBIE Award in the Global category for multinational companies over $5 billion in annual revenue. This follows her recognition as Dallas CIO of the Year in the 2021 ORBIE Awards.

The prestigious CIO of the Year ORBIE Award is a leading technology executive recognition program celebrating those who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.

“We are extremely proud of Sue-Jean for receiving this national award, as recognition of her leadership and influence, and building on her 2021 Dallas CIO of the Year ORBIE Award,” said David Endicott, Alcon’s Chief Executive Officer. “She and her IT team continue to facilitate the rapid pace of our business priorities with speed and agility.”

Mr. Endicott continued, “What truly distinguishes Sue-Jean is her ability to create connections and trust, allowing Alcon to deliver innovation and value faster. Her team realizes solutions across our business and directly contributes to Alcon’s purpose of helping people see brilliantly.”

With Alcon since 2018, Ms. Lin’s deep global IT leadership experience helps drive Alcon’s overall business trajectory. Having served in the role of CIO for nearly half of her career, Ms. Lin focuses on the customer experience first and brings a clear understanding of the crucial need for interconnectivity between IT and innovation – a key pillar of Alcon’s business strategy.

In addition to serving as Alcon’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information and Transformation Officer, Ms. Lin is a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Ms. Lin is also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion and a champion for women in business leadership. As a member of the Catalyst’s Women on Board and the Finance Committee Chair for the T200 women leaders, she is helping to create an inclusive environment where women can contribute and thrive. She is also the executive sponsor for Alcon’s Chinese Association employee resource group.

ORBIE finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process led by prior ORBIE recipients. Qualification criteria are based upon a CIO's leadership and management effectiveness, business value created by technology innovation and industry engagement, as well as community endeavors.
